Take an early evening stroll in Reykjavik and breathe in the vibes on main street Langauvergur, Bankastræt and Austurstæt. Pop into Harpa music hall to admire the modern architecture. It gives a fun contract to the centers old and colorful tin-plate covered houses. Have dinner at a good restaurant.

2nd Day in Iceland: The Golden Circle

Take a rental car or book seats on a guided bus tour and head out early in the morning. The golden tour, aka the Golden Circle is Iceland’s most popular tour, which takes you to hot springs, an erupting geyser, the Gullfoss waterfall, Thingvellir national park and one might even have time for a hot bath. The Golden Circle tour from Reykjavik takes from 6 to 8 hours.

3rd Day in Iceland: Go hiking, glacier walking or horse riding on Icelandic horses

Dedicate the third day to the Icelandic nature. From Reykjavik there are day trips to the top of the city’s signature mountain Esja. The path is well marked, and especially during summer weekends the mountain road of Esja is one of the locals favorite outing trails. Prepare to sweat while climbing up, but the view from the top is rewarding. Don’t go out in windy weather.

A riding safari with a steady and small sized, mellow Icelandic horse is an amazing nature experience. There are several horse stables near Reykjavik.

Iceland has Europe’s largest glaciers. A few hours walk with a knowledgeable guide on the enormous glacier is an unforgettable experience. The glaciers can be dangerous if you don’t know what you are doing. So, don’t go on the glacier alone or without appropriate equipment.
